The advocacy forum in Kaposvár last night began with a discussion about internal and external motivational factors and the rapid burnout that can follow an energetic start. All three groups’ young participants, their parents, and the mentors were present. Together, we reflected on the pitfalls of fluctuating motivation, the decline of momentum, and the factors that can help maintain long-term motivation. For example: could the key to sustained commitment lie in creating a strong community? When strength fades, the novelty wears off, and the first, second, or many more tasks — or even problems — arise in everyday life, how much can team spirit and well-established relationships and friendships act as a retaining force? Can we consider this decline in motivation a sign of burnout?
For now, more questions arose than answers, and we did not manage to resolve all of them. We trust that at the forum in Mohács, it will be easier to develop a good strategy together with the other parents. Until then, we aim to focus more intentionally on strengthening the team and bringing parents even closer to one another through house-level programs. And why did we examine the topic from this perspective? Because within the parent–child–mentor–Foundation framework, everything is interconnected, and the system truly works only when we work together.
