MTA 200

“According to the founding intentions of István Széchenyi, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences has been continuously renewing itself for nearly 200 years in the service of knowledge, the nation, and universal science,” – tells us the MTA 200 website. Following the footsteps of the “greatest Hungarian,” the Jászság 4 group project is attempting to document the lives of individuals who, through their ties to Jászság, rose to the Academy and enriched their local communities through their work. The 2025 edition of the Jászság Yearbook is a great help in this, as it deals with precisely these sources. The aim is for everyone to get to know the Jász academics and, through their example, to inspire themselves to develop.

“On February 14, 2026, at first our group took part in a mentoring session on our project day, where we discussed the most important information affecting us and the current tasks at hand. We talked about camps, volunteer community work, and academic results. After the mentoring session, we focused on the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. We learned about the importance and role of the institution and what its tasks are, then we solved playful tasks in groups about Hungarian inventors. I found it very interesting and learned many things I didn’t know before. After that, we discussed who would present which Jászság academician later on. After the session was over, we ended the day with a lunch together. I think we not only gained new knowledge, but also had a good time.”

“Saturday was our mentoring/project day, and we arrived in the morning. When we got there, our mentor was waiting for us with a hot breakfast. After breakfast, we started discussing things, beginning with our themed camp and other foundation programs. Once we had covered these topics, we started talking about our project, which will be about the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. One of our tasks was to choose one person and write a detailed presentation about them, which we will present next time. Our mentor, András, said that if everything goes well, he will take us to Budapest, where we will see an exhibition in the MTA building. By the time we had discussed everything, lunch had arrived, which we ate together. After everyone had finished eating, we headed home. All in all, it was a good day; we discussed what we needed to know and went through the first elements of our project.”
