Parental meeting and Parents’ Forum in Szentes

“On May 18th, the Szentes groups gathered for a joint parent-teacher meeting at the community house. The upcoming foreign language camps had the children very excited—and occasionally the parents worried—so we held this meeting in an unconventional manner. Novák Gyöngyi, a mentor from the Szeged community house, and her enthusiastic team from Szeged Group 3 joined us to share all the important details about the Bournemouth camp and to enthusiastically recount their experiences from last year. The children from Szentes had previously viewed the host families, foreign cultural customs, and the different cuisine with a bit of fear rather than brave curiosity, but our guests reassured everyone that all situations are well managed over there. After useful advice and explanations about airport rules and the flight, we discussed the camp programs. The meeting concluded with the usual signing of declarations. We continue to prepare for our international camps with excitement—go Szentes, go summer!” Sándor Kovács, mentor, Szentes Group 1

“On Saturday afternoon, following the parent-teacher meeting, the Advocacy Forum session took place at the Szentes Community House. The parents shared with joy where and with whom their children will continue their studies in the coming years. It was important to discuss that as students near the end of 8th grade but have not yet started the next school year, they still have the obligation to participate in the Foundation’s activities. Many things seem important, but attending the developmental classes and programs should remain a part of everyday life, for which we sought the parents’ partnership. The parents present at the forum expressed their support, stating that their children’s academic success is greatly attributed to the Foundation’s activities. The successful participation in the Tallérgyűjtő competition was mentioned, and the reward trip will soon take place. Eight students from Szentes will participate. The youngsters are eagerly anticipating the 8th-grade foreign camps and are preparing for the summer camps.” Márta Törőcsik-Őzéné, mentor, Szentes Group 2
