Two hundred and forty-nine students competed against one another during problem solving exercises in the following fields: geometry, number and game theory, and algebra. Four hours was allotted to complete all of the tasks.
The contest took place in Kecskemét between March 14th and 18th inclusive. The event was organised by the Bányi Júlia Secondary Grammar School, whose students have excelled in this event on past occasions. Two hundred and forty-nine students competed against one another during problem solving exercises in the following fields: geometry, number and game theory, and algebra. Four hours was allotted to complete all of the tasks. Whilst solutions were assessed, the participants enjoyed lectures on the fields of mathematics and physics delivered by teachers from the local high schools. Thirty-one students received a book as a reward and a further forty-six students were awarded a certificate. The day concluded with a theatre performance at the Katona József Theatre in Kaposvár; the play was ‘A View from the Bridge’ by Arthur Miller. Though I am currently only in the ninth grade, I participated in the contest and took my chance. I was not awarded a prize this year, however, I will keep working on my skills and try again next year. Palkó Richárd, Kaposvár 2.
