Being featured in the Madártávlat magazine

It is with great joy and pride that we share the news that one of our Foundation’s summer camps has been featured in Madártávlat magazine! Bird ringing is a staple program of our nature and language camp in Kőszeg. The location is the Tömörd Bird Observatory, where our supported participants not only learned about the process of capturing birds but also got hands-on experience with ringing and even held the birds themselves.

This year, the Tömörd Bird Observatory ringed 149 individuals from 25 species and recorded 51 recaptures from 20 species. The three most commonly ringed species this year were the European robin, blackcap, and chiffchaff. (Source: Madártávlat magazine, Winter 2024 issue).

We are proud to have enriched young people’s camp experiences with such programs for over 10 years. In addition to bird ringing, participants explore and study the region’s plant life, isolate DNA from bananas, conduct river sampling and measurement, and visit landmarks such as Írott-kő and Hétforrás. We would like to thank Balázs Keszei , Sándor Bancsó , and Péter Illés for leading the activities again this year.
