Run for Cancer Cure!

On Saturday, September 13, Széchenyi Square in Pécs came alive once again as the “Run for Cancer Cure!” charity run took place. Over the past years, hundreds of people have shown that the power of community can truly make a difference: families, friends, students, and athletes took to the starting line to support the smallest heroes with every step.

Before the race, the PTE Blue Zone Health Day was held at Széchenyi Square, offering colorful programs, interactive demonstrations, and playful stations to bring the message of healthy living closer to both children and adults. Participants who completed at least three stations could compete for valuable prizes.

Members of the Csányi Foundation’s Pécs Group 1 and Group 3 proudly represented themselves. At the opening ceremony, Ivett Majoros was warmly welcomed with applause on stage, while Péter Gaál from the Foundation’s team was the first to cross the finish line.

The event’s most important message is that every step counts. The 2.6-kilometer route is not about timers or records, but about the city’s heart beating together for children with cancer. All proceeds from the run go to the Eurakvilo Children’s Oncology and Hospice Public Foundation, which has long supported young patients and their families on the path to recovery.

This September Saturday was more than a sports event—it was a celebration of hope, unity, and love. Hundreds of people ran together through the streets of downtown Pécs, each step carrying a message: you are not alone, we fight together for the smallest heroes.
