Baroque Compositions Piano Competition

On September 28th, I participated in the final round of the Baroque Compositions Piano Competition held at the Hajós Castle. I competed alongside 27 of my peers in my age group. During the competition, we were required to present one mandatory Baroque piece or movement, as well as a freely chosen post-Baroque piano piece, before a three-member professional jury. I selected a piece by Bach for the mandatory portion and a contemporary composition for the freely chosen piece. The jury awarded my performance with a silver rating.

After the competition, we also visited the exhibitions on display at the castle. The castle once served as the residence of the Archbishop of Kalocsa, and the exhibitions showcased how people lived there in the past. Additionally, there was a hunting exhibit featuring many fascinating stuffed animals.

It was a great experience to play the piano in a Baroque castle! I would like to thank my instructor, Gabriella Nagy, a teacher at the Liszt Ferenc Music School, and the Csányi Foundation for helping make it possible for me to participate in the competition.
