Under the pressure of the final exams

I believe that the final exams are already a significant mental and emotional challenge for graduating high school students, but due to the introduction of the new National Core Curriculum (NAT), final exams, and admission system, the previously known factors have become truly tangled. If we have attended open house events, Educatio exhibitions, and inquired in the past years, this year we can start everything anew, as the system undergoes significant changes. That’s why I visited “Educatio” on January 13 and today the Faculty of Social Sciences at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE). There are numerous questions, uncertainties, contemplations, and hesitations that arise in my life, just like in the lives of my fellow students preparing for the graduation, as the weight of deciding the main direction of our lives is truly difficult and comes with a lot of stress. In my opinion, open house events help narrow down the range of possible options because we not only learn the basic information such as the point thresholds and requirements but also get to know the atmosphere and structure of the campus, its conditions, dormitory options, students, scholarships, tricky facts that can only be learned from insiders, and within the framework of sample classes, we form impressions about the teachers and teaching habits. We get an insight into the available master’s and doctoral programs, not forgetting the possibility of minor programs considered successful at ELTE. For me, it is not only the quality of education, a major that aligns with my interests and abilities, the prestige of the diploma, and postgraduate employment after the master’s program that are crucial; but also the environment, atmosphere, and the impression that the institution and the university students studying there evoke in me.

The Faculty of Social Sciences at ELTE has managed to win my favor, and I am very grateful for the opportunity to visit this university, making it easier for me to make my decision in less than a month. I thank the Foundation and my mentor for the chance, who assisted and supported me in reaching the heart of our capital so that I can check off another place on the list of designated universities, thereby reducing the pressure on me regarding further education.
