Augsburg for the familiar and newcomer

The day has come again when our team reunited, reaching above the clouds to once more feel German soil beneath our feet. Today, we arrived in that little German town which, for years now, we have come to think of as our summer home. That town is none other than Augsburg.

We were overjoyed to return to this wonderful place, and everyone was especially excited that we had new faces among us—those experiencing the life of this historic town for the very first time. The journey brought much excitement for the newcomers; for some, it was their first time flying through the clouds. Every moment left a joyful imprint, and the children eagerly called their parents once we landed.

Despite the exhaustion from the trip—both the younger and older ones alike—every child and every host family was eagerly anticipating the reunion. Some among us already knew their host families from past years, and they greeted each other with big, heartfelt hugs. We witnessed emotional and joyful moments. It truly felt like the families had been waiting for us to come home.

As junior mentors, we are also thrilled to be here again, since we once stayed with host families ourselves—and we still maintain great relationships with them to this day.

After all the long, happy greetings and embraces, the children went to stay with their host families, and they are all looking forward to the exciting events the rest of the week holds. Tomorrow, we’ll have our traditional team-building bowling event, which is a must for both new and returning participants. On Tuesday, we’ll visit the BMW factory in Munich—definitely a highlight on the program list. On Wednesday, we’ll show the city to the newcomers. As junior mentors, we already know what makes a city tour exciting, and we’ve prepared to present it in just that way for the children. On Thursday, we’ll go to the city’s adventure park, followed by a pleasant swimming session. Over the weekend, our excursion will take us to Dachau and then back to Munich…

A beautiful country, a full week, a shared language, amazing programs, and lifelong memories in an uplifting community. Photos from the week’s events are already available in the gallery. We’ll return later with another post…
