Ready, Set, Drive!

Fekete Lilla from Group 2 in Kaposvár drew our attention to pedestrian traffic. We were able to learn many useful and important things and expand our knowledge, for example: anyone who is moving without a vehicle counts as a pedestrian. The following all count as pedestrian traffic: pushing a bicycle, walking, running, pushing a stroller, and pushing a scooter. Always look around when you reach the roadway, even if there is a crosswalk or traffic lights. DON’T USE YOUR PHONE WHILE CROSSING! Pay attention to drivers, because they can make mistakes too. If the light is already red, never start crossing; if you have already started crossing when the light begins to flash, get to the other side as quickly as possible.

Where are pedestrians allowed to move? Primarily on the sidewalk; if there is no sidewalk, then at the edge of the road, preferably facing oncoming traffic. When crossing the road, use the crosswalk; if there is no crosswalk, cross to the other side in the safest and quickest way. You must pay attention to traffic lights, vehicles, and signs.

Pedestrian traffic signs include: pedestrian crossing, footpath, shared pedestrian and bicycle path, residential/recreation zone, pedestrians have priority, and pedestrians are not allowed to enter this section of the road. We learned a lot and became familiar with the rules, and even if not everyone followed them before, now we all do.
