“Today we started our History and Ethnography Camp in Slovakia, and although the first day was – of course – mostly spent travelling, there was no shortage of exciting activities. Once all three groups were comfortably settled in the bus, our first stop outside was the banks of the Danube in Bratislava, where we picked up our guide, Mihály, and our volunteer, Kamilla Marosi. We then headed for Dévény Castle, but we were not bored on the way, as Mihály provided us with useful and interesting information at every turn, both about the buildings and artworks around us and about the history and everyday life of the town and the country. Despite the incredible heat, we reached the top of the castle relatively quickly and I can honestly say that the view made up for all the effort. Back in the city, we had a classic guided tour of the oldest streets, the most beautiful and historically important churches, including the Coronation Church of St. Martin, and the most important sites of the former Parliament, with time for ice cream at the end of the tour. Afterwards, we said goodbye to our guide for the day and ended the day with a hearty dinner back at the hotel. All in all, it was an eventful and colourful day.” Dániel Ihász, Kaposvár Group 3
