Unusual Dinner Night

The first Dinner Night of the 2024-2025 academic year was organized in an unusual way at the Opus Jazz Club of the Budapest Music Center (BMC). The guest of honor at the dinner and roundtable discussion was László Gőz, a jazz musician, trombonist, professor at the Academy of Music, and the founder of BMC. His inspiring and remarkable life served as an example and guide for university students. It was a very special experience to have a conversation with a musician whose name is known in the jazz world across the globe.

At this dinner night, we were also joined by guests who, although not as world-famous as László Gőz, certainly deserve recognition. Their unwavering enthusiasm, humble work ethic, boundless dedication, care, and love place them among the elite of their profession. Joining us this evening were the operational director, mentors, and staff of the office of the Csányi Foundation, who came to meet with the foundation’s university students and engage in valuable discussions.

Among the curators, Edward Papp honored us with his presence, and our guest was also Katarina Bánfi, a clinical psychologist.

The Dinner Night was special in another way as well, as the Csányi Band performed in tribute to the venue, making the evening memorable with their songs. Additionally, thanks to a spontaneous inspiration, Nadin Varga and Zsombor Barkóczy enhanced the event with their award-winning composition.
