Learning Methodology Reloaded

Today, on Thursday, our team started the session at 9 a.m., led by Ms. Piroska. We worked in segments of about an hour and a half, with short breaks in between and a longer lunch break, continuing until 4 p.m.

We began the session with a mood assessment, where we each identified our current mood and how we hoped to feel later on. Afterward, we got acquainted with pictograms, which we used to help memorize a famous quote from Albert Szent-Györgyi.

We also completed a learning style questionnaire that helped us discover the most effective ways for each of us to learn and understand the ideal learning environment. This included whether we might be auditory, visual, or kinesthetic learners, and whether we prefer studying in silence or with company.

Our next task was to create mind maps in pairs. In connection with our Greek project, each pair was assigned a topic related to ancient Greece to develop. After completing our mind maps, we presented them to our peers, analyzing each presentation from various perspectives.

Following this, we moved on to study tips, where we shared personal experiences, looked at useful strategies to aid learning and memorization, and even consulted ChatGPT for its perspective. Interestingly, it suggested similar ideas to the ones we had already thought of. We discussed the importance of having motivation for learning, whether internal or external. Having a goal—short- or long-term—is beneficial. Thus, self-awareness is crucial: knowing our strengths, areas for growth, values, and principles.

We closed the session with an exercise on monotony tolerance, where we observed how accurate and quick we could be over a given period. Our day concluded with time management tips.
