Windmill and solarpower

We visited Erk on a gloomy Friday afternoon in November, but despite the rainy weather, we set off for our destination motivated. Our first sight was the wind farm, which started generating energy for the municipality in 2005. The installation is 74.5 metres high with a rotor diameter of 48 metres. Its erection was preceded by a year of wind measurements; at the same time, a site had to be found where there was a pipeline to transport the electricity generated. The annual energy generated is approximately 1.6 million kilowatt hours, enough to meet the annual energy needs of 750-800 families. Naszradi Tamás, the project manager of the erki wind farm, also provided us with photos showing the different stages of the construction of the power plant.

After Erk, we headed to Jászdózsa, where we got a glimpse of the solar panel park there. We didn’t spend much time here, but we had not yet left the Jászdózsa area, as our volunteer, Fülöpné Paksi Katalin and her sister surprised us, and we could enjoy some hot tea, pancakes and gingerbread while hiding from the weather. It was the perfect end to our day, we went home full of new experiences and happy. Tamasi Tilda, Jászság Group 3

During the last Lego robotics competition in November, Mezei Gábor, Managing Director of GridSolar Group Ltd. gave us a presentation about solar collectors and solar panels. He helped us with his ideas for the innovation project by telling us about the advantages and disadvantages of solar panels. He let us know about their properties, how they are affected by weather, seasonal variations, temperature fluctuations. He explained the differences in construction and operation of different types of solar panels. He helped us collect the equipment requirements and price calculations for our innovation project. Horváth Ferenc, Jászág Group 3
