“Thank to the Erasmus scholarship, I got the opportunity to travel to Xativa, Spain on 28th February, for a whole month. During this period, I was working as an ambulance nurse. It was a great pleasure for me that I got the chance to practice my profession. I spent this time at the local hospital, at Hospital Lluís Alcanyís de Xatíva on an ambulance car. I got to know the SVB car (Support Vital Basic for short, like the BLS corps). On my first day I, was excited and a bit afraid of how I would complete my tasks. Luckily, everybody was very kind and helpful there, and we managed to overcome the language barrier with the help of a translator. Some thoughts about the work here: First of all, the crew receives an alarm via radio with the basic details. They make the documentation on paper, then mark the statuses via radio and finally record the case through an application too.
I got to know the SAMU car too (Abbreviation of Servei D’Ajuda Médica Urgent) Like the ALS corps, on this car there is a paramedic besides the nurse and technician as well. This car type is much more equipped than the SVB, there is a monitor, more balloons, and medicines. I also got an insight how a car disinfection/cleaning looks like.
I saw different cases almost every day, fallen patient, Covid-patient (in that case I stayed in the car to avoid infection), psychiatric or unconscious patient. I am really looking forward to further experiences during my work here.”
