From Presentations to Mars

On October 24, the members of the Pécs Group 1 began their day with an exciting digital adventure led by development teacher Kata Jobbágy. As preparation for their upcoming ICDL exam, the students immersed themselves in the world of presentation design: through official sample exercises, they practiced how to create presentations that are both meaningful and visually engaging.

Meanwhile, Group 3 in Pécs ventured into the fascinating realm of programming, where they were introduced to the basics of the Python language. Working in the Spyder development environment, they first implemented mathematical operations in code, and after lunch, they explored the world of logical operations and operators. Kata made the learning experience special: each student worked on their own computer, at their own pace, writing and running their own code – making the process not only useful but also truly enjoyable.

On Saturday, teacher Péter Schlepp took over the baton, guiding Group 3 from Pécs back into space as a continuation of last year’s “Green Engineers” project. While last year’s mission focused on conquering Mars, this time the team took on the Moon Camp Challenge, announced by the EESA and ESERO. The project centers on designing the infrastructure needed for long-term survival on Mars – through robotics, playful learning, and most importantly, 3D design.

The children began creating their own Martian infrastructures in the TinkerCAD program: living units, energy systems, and everything a future settler might need. The creative process and the preparation of the presentation material for the upcoming Buday Memorial Conference were supported by university mentors from Pécs and teacher Andi – a true team effort filled with laughter and creative ideas.

Thus, the weekend was not only about learning but also about exploration: the students developed both their digital skills and their engineering imagination – proving that the future is already taking shape in their hands.
