Őrvidék

On July 12 we occupied our accommodation in Bükfördő and explored the hotel and the thermal baths.

Our destination today (13th July) was the ferris-wheel in the Prater in Vienna. After we admired the Austrian capital city from a bird’s eye view we visited the Schönbrunn castle and it’s incredible park which flew as straight back to the golden age of the Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy.

Today (14th July) we had two main destination, which brought us back to the events of the Hungarian-Austrian history. Firstly, we visited the tower of Fraknó, which was the only building which had stayed impregnable during the wars and belonged to the Eszterházy dynasty. The tour-guide colourfully pictured the events of the battles between the 16th-20th centuries. At the end of the tour we had a chance to try out the mesmerising acoustic of the tower’s well. In the afternoon we went to Eisenstadt, where we visited the Castle of Eszterházy family. Our adorable tour-guide did her best and flew us back to the personal history of the Eszterházy princesses and princes. After the tour we can surely say that the life in the castle was not just about serious things, the building was filled up with love stories and funny moments. The final destination was the spa of the hotel, where we could have a rest before dinner.

We found shelter in the spa island of our hotel on the windy and rainy Saturday. The return of sunshine in the afternoon lured us towards the waterslides. We spent our Sunday in Sopron (Ödenburg in German). In the „City of Loyalty” we learned more about the Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy, we climbed the famous fire tower and admired the city from a bird’s eye view. At last we took a stroll on the historical streets surrounding the main square which.

Today after a filling breakfast we headed towards the Zotter chocolate factory in Austria near Graz. We had the opportunity to see various sights on our way, towards the sweet museum of chocolate. We were shown the usage of cocoa beans from the plant till the chocolate bars.In the museum we taste tested countless types of sweets that the company produces there. With fully packed stomachs and souvenir we started our journey back home as fast as possible so that we could enjoy the comfort of the hotel we stayed in . After the tasty dinner we had some time that we decided to spend playing beach volleyball , swim or going to the spa. Having gathered wonderful memories and experiences we are looking forward to our trip back home.
