The Pécs Group 2 participated in a special, community-building museum education session. The visit took place at the Episcopal Treasury, where the children, guided by an expert, could learn about the past of the city of Pécs and the world of ecclesiastical art treasures.
The session was conducted using an unconventional methodology: the participants discovered a selected artifact not in a traditional way, but by engaging their senses. They gathered information based on various scents, sounds, and tactile experiences, and then used these to find the specific artifact on which all the collected elements appeared. This playful yet developmental approach contributed significantly to strengthening the children’s focus, cooperation, and problem-solving skills.
Under the guidance of the museologist, the group collectively analyzed the discovered work in detail, followed by creative artistic work. The children made their own picture frames, in which their experiences and impressions were manifested. By the end of the session, unique and sophisticated creations were born.
The program successfully combined learning, gaining experiences, and community cooperation. The museum education session provided a lasting experience for the participants and effectively supported the development of the mentored children’s cultural openness and creativity.
