Our art

“In this school year, the Jászság Art Group worked a lot on the Csodafa project, so for the last sessions of the year, Ildi néní came up with some slightly different activities for us. On May 31, 2024, we, the artists, had the opportunity to create with Bernadett Keppel-Dankó, a painting teacher currently exhibiting at the Déryné 6 Gallery. She showed us how to paint freely, just drawing lines all over, but in the end, everyone will see something different in the painting. Eight of us painted, and it was really funny because even her little son tried it, although he’s only 1.5 years old. We worked with acrylic paint, which we diluted in a little water, and we tried out splattering and dripping techniques, among others. I think we did something extraordinary, we really enjoyed it. We could also use textile spray for shading. We could use different brushes too. This technique was tried by the group for the first time, and everyone loved it. We thank Bernadett for her help, we look forward to doing it again sometime!” – Eszter Sisa, Jászság Group 2

“On the last session of the art group, on June 7, 2024, we visited the temporary art exhibitions in Jászberény. The first stop was the Jász Museum, where the artworks were made by Jászság artists in memory of the Jászkun Redemption. We saw the works of 20 creators at the exhibition titled ‘Your (Own) Redemption.’ There were graphics and paintings, and also some very modern pieces that made us think deeply. Everyone chose a piece for themselves and could explain why they liked it. We saw very interesting and serious artworks. Afterward, during a walk, we went for ice cream and saw the city’s rococo sculptures, which had recently been renovated by restorers. Then we peeked into the Roomlib, where we saw the products of Jászság artisans, all kinds of gifts, from ceramics to jewelry. We would have accepted a lot from there because we liked them very much. After this, we went to the Lehel Film Theater, where we saw the exhibition titled ‘Stories Written in Black,’ through the works of graphic artists István Bugyi and László Madaras. Everything was really black or white and the shades of gray. It was very interesting; we learned about what multiple graphics are and had good conversations about the artworks. It was an exciting walk; thank you for this afternoon!” – Dóra Kecskés and Eszter Oláh, Jászság Group 2
