As a volunteer in Berlin

I took part in a one-week camp in Berlin as a volunteer, where I could be with the best German-speaking students of the Foundation.

The children could experience the language at a very nice area, because “Hochdeutsch” is spoken here and in schools, it is also taught. It was a huge advantage that the teachers from GLS are using this dialect. The “nice German” could be heard in the streets, too.

Another nice experience was to see how hardworking our students were and how hard they worked on their homework. From a language learning aspect, the teachers used the most useful techniques with our students. Teachers not only taught the language but also culture, history and a daily side of Berlin and Germany, too.

Its consequence was that there were no student who did not like taking part in the language courses.

Concerning the afternoon programmes I can state that the group’s mentor, Judit Bartal-Kovács did her best. Everyone could find his/her favourite programme and certainly they had free time.

Speaking of the children, I really like the thing that we used public transport and they could experience how it is to be a member of that town. As a teacher, this is the best to see that they really understand what they have learnt and when they try to explain the learnt topics.

As a volunteer and as a language teacher I can say that this camp was full of gifts, concerning language, culture and socioculture.
