Legendary Hungarian Singers

On January 13, 2026, we held the first exhibition opening of the year at the Jászság Community House of the Csányi Foundation, in the Déryné 6 Gallery. At Zsigmond Kovács’s caricature exhibition titled Legendary Hungarian Singers, Dr. Miklós Radoszáv welcomed the guests, followed by Eszter Szöllősi, life coach and a longtime friend and classmate of the artist, who brought the creator’s art closer to the visitors. The atmosphere of the event was enhanced by the piano performance of Adél Szilágyi.

The genre of caricature is simultaneously humorous and thought-provoking: it uses exaggeration, yet exerts an immediate impact on the viewers. In the exhibition, the human face and character take center stage. The creator primarily focuses on the eyes, not only because the eye is the mirror of the soul, but because he shapes the faces in relation to them. The artist has been present in the domestic exhibition space since the early 2000s: he started as a painter, and then caricature increasingly became his primary means of expression. His works have been featured in Jászberény, Szeged, Budapest, and in international exhibitions, often evoking our collective cultural memory. The specialty of the current exhibition is that the audience can see the material of four complete caricature series at once.

The four themes of the exhibition bring together the portraits of icons who died young from the series “Imagined in the Golden Age,” the defining figures of the “Actors of the Nation,” the famous fighters from the previous “Punchy Exhibition,” and the latest caricatures of “Legendary Hungarian Singers” into a single presentation spanning across time and genres. Behind the thousands of caricatures created over nearly twenty years lie personal encounters, live drawing, and the joy of creation. The exhibition offers visitors not only recognizable faces but also memories, atmospheres, and a nostalgic journey through time.

We look forward to welcoming interested visitors!
