A Gala for a sad occasion.
I took part in a gala show to remember Fruzsina Gém, our fellow synchronized swimmer, whose tragic death shocked the whole town of Kaposvár. Modern dance groups and a synchronized swimming team from Budapest were also willing to remember her. We spent weeks preparing for this occasion: we put together special acts, the majority of which were either choreographed to Fruzsi’s favourite pieces of music, or she used to perform in them. Preparing for the gala was very difficult, as I also had to study for my exams. We sometimes cried, other times laughed when we brought up stories about Fruzsi during the trainings. We did everything we could do to please her and we hope she appreciated our work and the show dedicated to her memory from up there.. In spite of the rainy and stormy weather, many people, including friends, athletes and the mayor of Kaposvár, paid respects to our fallen teammate.
