Children’s Rights programme

“20 November is World Children’s Day. Today, 34 years ago, the United Nations signed the most widely adopted document in the world, the Convention on the Rights of the Child. There is hardly another issue on which the world is so united: children must be protected and their rights enshrined in law. These were the rights that Bori and I brought to a section of the Jászberény Community House today, who were interested to hear about the session. It was a pleasure to see the children’s activity and to hear their thoughts. I think we had a really meaningful and emotionally charged afternoon, where not only the children, but also I learned a lot. I would like to thank Dr. Miklós Radoszáv, the mentors of the Jászberény Community House and Bori Balás for making today’s session possible.” Gyula Pege, Jászság Group 3

“Today, Borbála Balás, the coordinator of the UNICEF Hungary Wake Up Call programme, and Gyula Pege, a member of group J3, the UNICEF Hungary Young Ambassador, held an interactive children’s rights session for the members of groups J1 and J4, which was held in a great atmosphere. My personal favourite was when I was able to take the children’s rights cards in my hand and we discussed who drew what, as we could not only express our opinions on the topic, but also listen to each other, which I think is very important in everyday life. I am very happy to have participated in the session and thank you for this presentation to Gyusi and Bori, as they taught us a lot.” Angelika Pege, Group 4, Jászság.
