Gent and Brugge

Sunday (14. October) greated us with unusual weather conditions: rain, wind and extreme cold.

However after the delicious breakfast – wide range of salamis, crunchy cereals, fresh fruit, coffe, tea and bagett – we started our day happily.

Gent is one of the biggest towns of East-Flandria. Here we climbed the Bell’s Tower. On every floor we made a stop; here we learnt how bells are made, and we also were informed about the history of the town.

Brugge is the capital of lace and chocolate, moreover the historic city centre is a prominent World Heritage Site of UNESCO. We loved being here. Though it was pouring we decided to explore the town. After that we visited the Basilica of the Holy Blood. The church houses a venerated relic of the Holy Blood.

Being in Brugge we did not miss to taste as many kinds of chocolate as we could. Early in the afternoon we had a delicious meal in a noble restaurant.  The best on the menu was black shell stewd in white wine served with some french fires, but this one has to wait till we return next year. :-)
