Another fine day with Yina

We started the day early in Bálint Sándor Primary School

On 19th of November we started the day early in Bálint Sándor Primary School where there are two Csányi students, too. The first lesson was an irregular English lesson held by Yina. She had a presentation about her country, culture, religion for 8th grade students. The teachers and the students were really thankful to have her there to give such a colourful presentation. Everyone could hear many new bits of information about this tiny but powerful country and the students had many questions to Yina.

We continued our day in the Móra Ferenc Museum where Yina could get information about ancient jobs that were pursued by the people of Szeged and, of course, we saw some of the paintings of Munkácsy Mihály and Benczúr Gyula. After lunch, luckily, we visited the Black House where a surprise exhibition waited us. Instead of the ethnography exhibition, we bumped into mummies and diseases of the 17th and 18th centuries and we could learn about the connection between them and modern medical science.

Early afternoon the students started to arrive to the community house and the house was loud again from the chit-chats between the children and Yina. This time, group 2 heard about Singapore in the interpretation of Yina. We have learned that there is no strictly understood mother tongue in Singapore and if you have fewer points (grades) in school, the merrier. After the lesson we watched a subtitled natural film about the migration of birds, as a closing part of last Saturday’s common crane watching at Lake Fehér. Later, the bravest ones continued talking with Yina and now we know even there are a few thousands kilometres between us, we share almost the same ideas and we live our every days in a mostly similar way.
