No fear

I have recently been to a camp organised by the International Paralympic Committee. The Committee is well-known for the Paralympic Games, where physically disabled athletes compete in summer and winter sports. In Paralympic snowboarding athletes compete in three categories based on the disabilities they have: one for upper limb injuries and two for disabilities related to the lower limbs. My dad loves all sorts of sports, so he helped me make contact with them. I began snowboarding in Eplény and now I have made it to Dubai, but I’d like to get to a lot of other places if my results are good enough. As there are relatively few competitors in this sport, I believe hard work would yield me results on an international level quicker than other sports would do. It’s very special for me, that’s why I chose this sport. My first training camp was in Dubai, in the Ski Dubai skiing complex. The Asian and World Cups in Paralympic snowboarding were also held there, so competitors came from all around the world. I got to know a lot of great people who have been involved with the sport for a long time. This community is more like a big family. It was great to meet people with whom we have a lot in common. Many might be envious about me getting to Dubai, but the truth is I didn’t really get to see the city itself because we were training all day. I only saw the snow in the country of the desert. It was really tiring, but it was worth it!

I have big goals in mind and I believe hard work can get you anything, everybody can be a good skier or snowboarder no matter where they live or what physical condition they’re in. I enjoyed this cam very much and I can’t wait for the next one. I hope to see all the people I met in Dubai again. Lilla Fekete, Kaposvár 2.
