Life of the Daphnia

The Natural Science Club is organised again this year in the Community House of Szeged. During the semester we are going to make a lake biome with the help of fish tanks, plastic bottles and the already existing Windows farm. At the first lesson (27 October) we examined the life cycle of the Daphnia.

We aim to study and have a closer look of the lives, food chains in rivers and lakes. Besides the core syllabus, we are going to learn about nature preserve, environmental pollution and the fauna of each of the Hungarian lakes and rivers. The first lesson was about the food chain in lakes and rivers from the smallest to the biggest. We started we a small creature, the Daphnia. We examined them under microscope and we started a Daphnia magna breeding farm. Also, at the end of the lesson we examined the new koi carps, who are going to live in the lake of the Community House.
