We visited the MOME open day

“Taking advantage of the autumn break, we visited the Open Day of the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design with some of our classmates and mentors. After our arrival we went to the information sessions. Some of us were introduced to the Media Design course, while the others were introduced to the Object Design course. At the presentation of Media Design, we learned about the 6 semester course and were able to see the work of the students who had graduated. The admissions process was discussed and the opportunity to assess portfolios was mentioned. Former and current students also spoke, telling about their trips abroad and projects they have done at the university. Some of these projects were on display in the form of an exhibition. We were also able to learn about the history of the course and where students have found jobs after graduation. For me, this was very useful, as I was curious to know what the degree programme entailed and what I could do with the qualifications I had obtained. Later, we learned about the Textiles Design course, which was preceded by a conversation with Zsófia Papp from Jászberény. Zsófia holds both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Textile Design from MOME and is currently working as a researcher at the university. During the conversation I had the chance to find out what path led her here and she told us about the course. He told me that it is possible to make a living even if you study in this direction. It was a very reassuring and pleasant conversation for me, as he managed to dispel any doubts I had. I gained a lot of useful and new information from the information session of the Textile Design. I was able to find out what the admissions process consists of here, so I can now prepare for it with a sense of purpose. I was also able to see the work of students who have graduated from the university and learn about the structure of the course. They told us about the opportunities the university offers and the different pathways to employment after graduation. After the information session, we were able to see the admission material for this year’s first-year students. We were able to see some amazing work and talk to the makers. You could hear about how and under what circumstances they got into university, and how they prepared for their admissions. The five students came with different and unique work, showing who really had what strengths. This day was a great opportunity as I have been interested in this university for a very long time. It was an unforgettable experience to see everything that I had only seen online, which made me even more keen to apply here myself one day. I am very grateful for the opportunity to gain an insight into MOME!” Tilda Tamasi Jászság Group 3
