A musical presentation at the Mohács Community Center

“Over the weekend, I met with the little ones at the community center, members of the 2nd group. We talked about university life in Budapest, music composition, and musical instruments. I started by sharing my experiences at the Liszt Academy, where we collaborate on joint artistic projects with the performing arts and several visual arts universities. We compose music for plays, create accompanying music for animations, and I even showed them a Momus exam film featuring my music. Later, I provided them with insights into how I composed the music and the possibilities available to me in the software I use. This aspect intrigued them the most. I showed them a remix I made from a C64 game music, and I talked about how game music used to be in the past and what a composer needs to pay attention to when creating music for games nowadays. I also presented my video game music project for the Die by the Blade game competition, where due to the samurai theme, we explored ethnic instruments and folk music. I showed a video recording of my piece titled ‘Kis kece lányom’ to illustrate how cool it is when they can play an instrument. I shared my experience of winning the opportunity to perform in New York with this piece, displaying pictures at the end and discussing the journey. I was delighted to share these experiences and stories with the children, and I hope it sparked an interest in learning music. I encouraged them to dream big and assured them that with persistent effort, they can turn their dreams into reality. I hope the examples I presented were inspiring for them, and that they discover the enchanting world of music.” – Nadin Varga, student of Applied Music Composition at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music
